We were lucky enough to get involved with this project back in April of 2009 with the help of the contractor, Davido. The modern home is located in Salt Lake City and was designed by Kenner and Matt over at Architectural Nexus. It has been a fun project with some unique shear issues and cantilever designs. These are the most recent pictures of the project and we will post the finished product in the near future.
The home owners posted some thoughts about structural engineers on their own blog at the beginning of the design process. Click HERE to read their post.
Here is a look at the front of the property from the street.

The beginning of the framing process.
The front of the home has a two story living space with a large concrete fireplace. With the limited amount of wood framing at the front of the home, we used the fireplace as a concrete shear pier.
